How To Overcome Home Business Owner Burnout!

I have often been asked to help others work through issues of burnout. As a business owner you’ve most likely experienced days (or weeks) when you feel you’ve been running around like a chicken with your head cut off and typically when the tail wags the dog you immerge feeling that you have little or nothing to show for your effort.
Go Back Where It All Started
Whenever I speak with an entrepreneur about potential burnout, I have them take the opportunity to go back and re-examine their original purpose. I have found that the process laid out below always results in ignited productivity, passion and helps preserve their sanity.
The first key is re-igniting your drive which is born from your internal motivation, your “fire in the belly”. We are never more productive than when we perform functions because we want to – not because we have to. One way to motivate your self to achieving this is to remember the original reasons that motivated you to choose the business that you’re in. That is; why you chose to pursue the business opportunity in the first place.
Make a list of all the things you use to love doing; that you were once passionate before you made them into a task and reexamine when and why that all changed.  It’s usually when you began to think that your efforts in those areas didn’t make a difference.  Give yourself credit!  Seriously, I’ve found that we are our harshest critic which is why I deal with this deeper later in this post.
I also tell business owners to make a list of all the things that you have discovered are not up your “expertise” ally and either become educated in those areas or look for opportunities to cheaply outsource those tasks.  In fact, I have a comprehensive list of those services that will do almost any task you need for pennies with the “Success Steps To Building Wealth Online” training because I feel they are so vital to preventing the burnout of struggling online entrepreneurs.
Recognize The Warning Signs
When we first began this entrepreneurial path we took every day and made the most out of it, enjoying the simple feeling of daily accomplishment. We were convinced that this was a defining time in our business life and we were committed to making the most of it however, much like a chandelier on a dimmer switch, the illumination of that original inspiration has slowly faded without us noticing. For many of us, if we do not halt this track, it will translate into full-blown burnout and can eventually be the beginning of a slow death of our business.
Recalibrate What You Focus On

In order to feel accomplishment through the process again, we need to define what the process accomplishes or satisfies in us as an individual. So what’s the question we need to ask ourselves? It’s a variation of the question “what’s in it for me?” However we need to alter the question to get the answer we can use. The actual question we should ask is “what’s in it for me other than money, that fulfills me?” Take a piece of paper and write down as many answers to that question that come to mind in 5 minutes.
As entrepreneurs we’ve made the choices we have made because we were deeply inspired make them. When we force ourselves over a period of time to perform a function through manufactured motivation it is the first step toward eventual burnout. It is a sign that you have lost your original inspiration, which will have a direct adverse-effect on our drive and focus. It extinguishes that “fire in the belly”; the foundational purpose that fuels why you do what you do. Unless we define the main needs in our life that this role can satisfy, we can never justify any extra effort and sentences us to living our business life at the lowest common denominator…. we might as well be an employee and have a regular job! This is the polar opposite of what will sustain long-term high effort as a result of the deep satisfaction.
Rewrite Your Job Description!
So in light of this, how do I relate to the process in a way that reconnects me with enjoying it on a daily basis? I must basically redefine my job description in a way that emphasizes the parts of the process that I most enjoy doing. Note that it does not mean that you won’t need to perform tasks that you least enjoy but rather it allows you to acquire the motivation to do them. What fulfills me daily is to tirelessly work to unlock the potential of others who truly want that for themselves. Everyday I am inspired to coach my team and my clients to individually attain their defined short-term and long term goals while experiencing a sense of accomplishment throughout every step of the process.
Enjoying The Process Again & Rewarding Yourself
Your road map to success is not solely focusing on the end result but rather the daily process, which if executed vigorously, will ultimately give you the results you desire. I cannot say this strongly enough: allowing yourself to take satisfaction in the daily process is paramount. We are all able to feel that sense of accomplishment when we concentrate on the A+B of the success formula on a daily basis and not focus solely on the end result (i.e. monetary results). Notice I said “not solely”. Satisfaction from our end results and goal attainment is important but it also comes far more naturally.
I’m suggesting that one just cannot starve themselves on satisfaction, only to binge like a starving man at an all-you-can-eat buffet when they reach a long term goal. That method causes the individual to appear to others as an ego-maniac when they experience success because of the co-dependant relationship they have developed with it. No one else understands that they are actually eating all they can now because they have no idea when the next time they’ll be allowed to dine on satisfaction again.
Conclusion
If you set daily activity goals, you can feel satisfaction in your job everyday (make certain that you reward your self when you reach those). Remember: The only way to achieve any long-term end result is to focus on being fulfilled through the process on a daily basis, which naturally results in greater effort. There will be no need for a forced increased in daily discipline when you enjoy and are fulfilled through the daily processes you accomplish.
The 5 Keys to avoid burnout and maintaining a healthy daily perspective are:
  • Define what you truly enjoy in your present business role.
  • Seperate those functions that you are passionate about from those you struggle to effectively perform and look for opportunities to delegate or cheaply outsource those functions.
  • Make your goals to reflect daily activities you can control rewarding yourself when you reach them knowing that they will eventually result in growth over the long haul.
  • Don’t negatively evaluate yourself on results you can’t control – it will damage your efforts to control the things you can.
  • It is practically impossible for you to be a successful, inspirational entrepreneur if you believe what you do is only about the bottom line…. so don’t let it be!
So take a business time-out, recalibrate, refocus and re-ignite the excitement about what you do!

Psychology and online marketing

There are volumes of training out there on writing sales copy that won’t convey what Frank Cushing can effectively teach you just in 8 sentences.  Unfortunately he doesn’t teach it… but I’ve got some of the best “unintentional training” from him that is going to absolutely ROCK your marketing world!  But first, I’ve really got to briefly tell you why his life is so incredibly fascinating to me.
Frank is an online sales copy-writer, an entrepreneur who works on a contractual basis which means he’s in total control, working only when he wants to.  He is a US citizen who has decided to travel abroad full-time.  He lives, traveling from one beautiful place to the next, staying just until he and his wife get the itch to move on and explore another country, another culture, another hemisphere.
He is fluent in Japanese and amusingly functional in several other languages (meaning he can functionally communicate but his verbal missteps make the locals laugh).  Every week or so he’ll write a post about the travels and adventures on his blog displaying a unique writing ability that allows you to freely imagine the unique beauty and comical events of the nomadic experience he lives….ok, I know I digress!
So would you now like to learn one of the key strategies to successful copy writing to your target market?  I’ll let Frank tell you himself with the only 4 paragraphs in the entire blog where he talks about what he does:
The secret to successful copy-writing is to get the customer to believe their life will be improved if they buy your product.
When I write copy, I imagine the feeling (when I was in middle school) of walking out of a shoe store in a new pair of sneakers because at that instant, my life got better because of the product purchased.
I would dream about the next pair of shoes.  They would give me the ability to run faster, jump higher and always get the girl.  No matter that none of those things ever happened–the feeling was present.
A pair of royal blue Nike waffle trainers with a bright yellow swoosh spotlighted in a shoe store window has provided me with inspiration to write copy that has sold a mountain of goods.
Perhaps the promise of a new pair of sneakers should not be to “run faster, jump higher and get the girl” but instead to “inspire copywriting that sells.”  Nah, that promise would never sell a single pair–even though it’s true!
What Frank is describing is the principle strategy I call “Sell them what they want & then deliver what they need”.  He needed shoes but what he was in the market for were shoes that would positively impact his self perception.
So many marketers try to sell people on what they need when that, quite frankly won’t motivate action because, well… It isn’t sexy at all!  You have to sell them what they desperately want and then deliver on what you know they need as a vehicle to get there.

How To Apply That To Make Money Money Online

If there is one major take away I want you to get, it’s this: You must be the parent in your sales relationship! Its best if I explain it this way: When you were young and your parents wanted to take you on a trip to Disney World in January how did they tell you?  They got you all excited about going to Disney, how warm it would be, about Mickey, Goofy, Magic Mountain and how much fun you would have….
In that initial “sales announcement” they never led with the pain of having to pack your clothes, wake up before dawn to load everything into the car or the excruciating boredom yet to ensue from being trapped with your sister for the 10hr road trip it took!  They sold you the excitement of the final destination, not what it took to get there because the donkey work isn’t sexy!
I see marketers all the time that think writing compelling sales copy involves selling to the needs of their target marketWrong! You have to tell them about the vacation in Florida where its warm and fun and for God-sake stop selling the 10hr road trip because (say it with me) it ain’t sexy!
There are ineffective marketers that will respond “I feel that’s deceptive” but that makes no sense!!  Here’s why: your compelling call to action, the value of your product/service is reflected in the fact that you can sell the vacation destination.  You’re only marketing deceptively when you know you’re selling them a car with the check engine light blinking that you know can’t get them there.
Think about it; when you announced the trip to your kids, you wouldn’t exclaim; “Guess what??  We’re going to ride in a car for 10 straight excruciating hrs tomorrow! Doesn’t that sound like fun?”
Will they have to drive in order to get there? Sure, but no “marketing parent” even mentions that until they’re excited and sold on going to Disney World because at that point it doesn’t matter!  They’d run through a wall to get there…which is exactly the emotional place you want your prospects to be when you ask for the sale and convey the price. Make sense?

It Comes Down To Learning 2 Main Things

To separate yourself from failing marketers and successfully build the marketing bridge to mass conversions you need to concentrate on doing just two things really well:
1.      Accurately describe in detail the priorities, needs & wants of the niche target market your product/service is designed to resonate with
2.      As you start to make your compelling case for them to buy your stuff, emotionally become that person, channeling them if you will, and “Sell them what they want”…the final destination….sell them Disney!
Many Internet marketers don’t do the donkey work required to successfully execute #1, and hardly any of those marketers know the importance of doing #2 at all. Trust me on this, if you get those 2 down you will be a marketing stud (or stud-ette) who, given traffic, can coerce mass conversions at will, moving product regardless of the quality (you’ll have that power so you have to promise me now that you won’t be pulled over to the dark side!).
How important is the information I’ve just given you here to being successful marketing anything online?  Internet marketing guru Frank Kern made over 1M in a single day from those strategies and later created a training that taught people how to do those 2 things well and it sold like hot cakes…that’s impressive but not as impressive as this…he set the price-point at over $1,600 a pop and practically crashed the server he sold so many of them!
So what’s the real quantifiable impact of applying all this to your online marketing bottom line?  Let me just say that in my experience, it’s the difference in making a few hundred dollars a month and $100,000 a year.  No kidding… It’s that important!

How to increase twitter online business

Connecting through Twitter can be a difficult as your followers grow and you attempt to wade through all the auto tweet noise. I’ve provided a list of the top 4 Twitter-app directories and the top 10 Twitter follow directories that will help you explode your followers and truly get connected with those that are participating and providing value.
Personally I combine these resources with my TweetAdder professional twitter marketing tool that allows you to easily manage and grow multiple Twitter accounts.
Using a combination of several of these resources will boost your followers, your interactions, your link clicks and  allow you to break your followers into sub-groups to easily manage and truly network on Twitter.

The Top 4 Twitter App Directories

Searching for people or applications on Twitter? Good luck with that. Since Twitter offers little in the way of people search features (though they now have an improved suggestion tool), your search for interesting and dynamic people to follow and applications to use could be a giant waste of your time.
Thankfully there are more than a few third-party resources that you can turn to for finding new people to follow, and new tools to help you do what Twitter won’t let you. We’ll shed a little light on these 15 directories by separating them into four categories: applications, people, politics, and strictly business.

1. Twitter Fan Wiki

The apps section of Twitter Fan Wiki is like Wikipedia for, so it’s for users, by users model, making it the most robust in terms of applications listed, but potentially the most unreliable if entries aren’t current. Applications are broken down into three categories: desktop apps, web apps, and mobile apps. And with subcategories under each heading, Twitter Fan Wiki makes it easy to drill down to just the apps you want to research.
There are lots and lots of applications, so you’re bound to happen upon something new and cool that you didn’t even know existed.

2. Twitdom

Twitdom, which launched with 50+ apps and now houses more than 300, uses WordPress as a platform to display information on Twitter applications and let users navigate category types via tabs to find desktop, mobile, or web apps, browser plugins, and mashups.
Application profiles. Each application has a short profile that also lists related applications. Users can also comment on or rate the applications. And even though it’s easy to miss, users can view the highest rated applications across the site by clicking the Popular link at the top of the site.

3. Twtbase

Similar to Twitdom, Twtbase also houses their database of applications within WordPress and divides them up into either the web, mobile, desktop, or browser plug-in buckets.
The thumbnail view. Each application has a screenshot, displays current rating, and number of votes. Twtbase also has a Site of the Day page that features one app per day.

4. Twapps

In the same vein as Twtbase, Twapps highlights each app with a thumbnail image and comment content on the home page. Users can navigate category tabs to search for desktop apps, Firefox plugins, mobile, and web apps.
Look and feel. The site is easy on the eyes, and since there’s only about 90 apps listed you won’t get overwhelmed by selection.

Even if you are active on Twitter, there can be lots of random conversations that are hard to follow. Twibes makes it easy to participate in Twitter conversations you care about, which is made even easier with their threading feature. This allows you to follow all replies to a tweet from start to finish, without having a bunch of other tweets in the way.
It basically allows you to create sub-groups you can then inneract with by topic and based on what their interests are.  This is a great tool for Internet marketers!

Instead, the service searches through Twitter to find commonly tweeted tags and allows you to click on them from a cloud. Whenever you click a tag, you’re given a listing of people who have mentioned it in recent tweets.
You can follow them @Tweetertags

Tips to enhance your online business

Above the strategies and techniques that I teach, any time I am working with an online marketer, it doesn’t matter what business (self-branding information marketing, network marketing, affiliate marketing, monetized blogging etc) the daily foundational focus of their business needs to be built on the following 4 pillars.
1)      No matter what happens; stick with it! The only way not to succeed is to give up.
Remind yourself everyday of the reasons you first began your pursuit. I personally know myriads of people who became successful just a few months after seriously being tempted to quit and give up.
Become convinced that you’re practically guaranteed to reach your goals if you don’t give up. You might make changes to your business, your offering, your marketing strategy etc but that’s part of the process.  Sticking with it for the long haul will get you there!
2)      Commitment to daily self development
The temptation is to totally bypass this as it is seen as a “non-revenue generating” function but don’t fall into that trap.  You’re business is your decision to invest your effort into something that can dramatically impact your life.
Daily time taken for self development is a crucial step to remain grounded, to grow and it is an investment into developing the “source” of that effort.  More people quit when faced with challenges as they start out because they negate self-development.
3)      Scheduling short-term objectives in the evening for the following day
You have big dreams, long-term aspirations and goals.  You might even have short term goals as well.  Having said that, if you don’t have short term objectives created so that when you wake up in the morning you have things to start to run and do then you’re hamstrung right out of the gate that day.  If you want to be successful in this business, you have to run it like a business not a hobby!
Get your list, mark it off and feel a great sense of accomplishment when you do! In the initial building process, for many it can feel overwhelming as you set up the mechanism that will generate your income stream.  You need to feel excited when you complete the tasks for that day that brought you steps closer to making that your reality.
4)      Be an unashamed, undeterred, sold out, balls-to-the-wall evangelist for your business, your offering and your brand!
I’ve discussed how to market without pissing people off and there are definitely some rules of etiquette to follow when doing so but understand this; your commitment to the passionate promotion of your offering, your brand and what your business stands for is paramount to your success.  Know that you are going to piss people off regardless in fact, if you aren’t annoying anyone then you’re probably way too passive.
Having said that, if you are growing any online business to generate revenue you need to have a balls to the wall attitude however there is a common pitfall among most energetic and passionate marketers.  Many will try to shove their offer down everyone’s throat and when they don’t respond positively, dismiss and write them off, leaving the person with a bad taste in their mouth.  The problem is that because they don’t ask questions and listen to learn needs, they piss off two other groups; potential marketing partners as well as the future prospects that would convert.
Instead, market your personal brand, your business and your offering by energetically and passionately appealing to:
  1. prospects that have needs your business or offering can satisfy now
  2. when someone is “not interested” you make sure you don’t burn bridges to future sales
  3. while also searching out marketing & advertising partnerships….
Because you need to appeal to all three!  Otherwise, along with alienating the other 2/3rds of your market you’ll be killing your branding and reputation.

Online business advices

When working with new or struggling online home business owners I’m inevitably asked what is the most important thing to learn in order to be successful making money online.  For those who are either aspiring Internet & affiliate marketing or online network marketing successes, my answer is the same.  It’s not a single marketing process or technique, nor is it becoming proficient in sales copy writing, blog set-up, site SEO, social media marketing or attracting waves of traffic.  Hell, all those my friends I can teach and you can learn.

My answer revolves around the common thread that those who reach the 6-figure mark (9K+a month) have mastered which conversely, those that do not succeed are lacking.  Those that have become successful all started their journey differently.  Some were out of work and jumped in head on, others could devote 2-4 hrs a day and then the weekends to making their vision become a reality.  For some it took just a few short months while others pursued niche markets that took longer to penetrate, sometimes even years….. but what is their common denominator?

In my experience, many act committed but are what I call “closet fence sitters“.  They’re just one failure away from giving up on their dream (and thus themselves). In all my training I’ve never known one who became successful without altering that perspective, burning the ships that would take them home & committing their entire being to making what they envisioned a reality. That is the gauntlet, the pre-requisite, the crucible if you will for success to grow.

The common denominator is an unwavering commitment that is nailed to the wall by a passionate pursuit, the internal fire of which they will not let die! Know this; if you get this tool in your tool box you will be successful.  Everyone who has mastered it has! But the journey to success is not a straight path but a maze in a dark room.  You will hit road blocks but your undying pursuit will guarantee success.
That means if you have 2-4 hrs everyday to devote to building your retirement then you commit to doing that every day….not because you have to, but because you have a burning desire to achieve it and can’t stop yourself! You recognize that this is the only way you can make the most dramatic long-term impact in your life and the life of those you love.

This my friends, is the common denominator.  It doesn’t matter what you “do” or “don’t know” when you start out because your passionate commitment from your burning determination will push you past any deficiencies and empower you to learn everything needed to be successful….but only if you are truly committed to weather all storms and take the failures as part of the journey, going back to the drawing board to retool and redouble your effort when they come.

The bottom line is that whatever you want to get in life, if you give it a sold-out commitment that’s nailed to the wall by a passionate fire that won’t quench, success is not a matter of “if” but “when”. Whatever your pursuit, know that the foundation must be built on that and nothing less, or the house will crumble when the storms come.

Physiognomy of Men

The art of understanding the physiognomy of men is said to help one assess or judge one's character or personality. There are certain physical characteristics, especially of the face that help one interpret more about a person's nature. In order to find out if a man is worth your trust or is there something fishy about him, you can read a bit about face reading, that is, physiognomy in the following article.

On many occasions, I have been told by my grandma, never to trust a man with cat eyes. By cat eyes she meant someone with green eyes. These green-eyed men, according to her were not trustworthy and liaisons with them will result in heart breaks. I do not know how accurate is this face reading prophecy by my grandma. However, there are many countries like Greece, China and even India, where physiognomy, that is, face reading is considered an art. An expert in physiognomy is said to interpret and explain the personality or character of a particular person, with just a single look at the face and body structure. If you believe, the face can show you what's going on in the mind, then you will find the following tips very useful. The tips below cover information related to physiognomy of men. Read on and see if it helps you judge a man's character and nature better.

What Does Physiognomy Help Interpret?
Your features indicate your luck and fortune. Each facial area helps in assessing what kind of person you are. The forehead helps interpret one's way of thinking. The eyes tell you about your ability to take on different life experiences. Your work methodology and ability to deal with money is interpreted by the nose. Your mouth shows how expressive one is and the lips indicate your level of sensuality. Your interaction with others is indicated by the ears and level of assertiveness is explained by the appearance of chin. The meaning of each facial feature is different when it comes to the sexes. They interpret a different meaning when it comes to women and men. In the following paragraph, you shall learn to analyze the physiognomy of men. So, go ahead, arm yourself with these tips and start analyzing the personality of the men in your life.
