How to Read Body Language

When you are in a face-to-face conversation with someone from the opposite sex, not everything that you say could mean entirely what you mean. There are times when the words you say don’t exactly mirror the message you are trying to convey. Spoken words will not suffice because actions do speak louder than words.
You have to know how to read body language because if you want to succeed in meeting and dating.
It is believed that body language and gestures convey far more information than your words do. Hidden messages or those that your subconscious is trying to say are always transmitted through your body movements since your conscious mind won’t express it.
It is because of this that more people are looking at body language whenever they want to find out what a person truly feels. Most of us are now aware of the fact that spoken words can conceal real emotions, so we try to learn how to read body language.
Reading body language signs will come very handy in social situations, most especially in dating. Usually in these instances, people are more hesitant to show their true emotions because they are not (most of them) interested in establishing long lasting relationships. With the exception of a certain number of people, those who are interested in dating are only after having fun and getting laid.
If this is the case, then why be totally honest with the opposite sex, right?
This, however, affects the interaction greatly because if you are approached by someone, whether they’re just after sex or a long-term relationship, you’d like for them to be open and truthful to you.
And since you know that most people don’t really open up during the first encounter, you’re going to be on the lookout for signs that the person you’re talking to is giving you crap—body language signs.
Learning how to read body language signs will play a very important role in your dating success. You have to be quick to spot those gestures and body movements and receptive to such signs because what you say and/or do following those signals can mean the difference between getting a date and going home alone.
Here are few of the things you should be on the lookout for:

Be conscious of “the look”

Frequent eye contact will show interest. There are various meanings of how a person looks at you. When the look is focused on the center of the forehead and eyes, it means nothing but business. A gaze that is centered on the triangle between the eyes and mouth is considered social. When someone looks at the triangle formed by your eyes and chin and then trails to other parts of the body, it means there is some level of intimacy.

Watch out for the smile

It is the universal gesture. Smiling will convey a lot of messages. It can show strength of character, confidence, kindness, and trust. In almost any situation, a smile will indicate if a person likes you or not. You will be able to know if your attempt to create conversation with someone will be successful or not. When it comes to flirting, someone who smiles sheepishly at you could be an admirer.

The hands and manner of handshake

The hand rub denotes a positive expectation. The hands with fingers intertwined will mean that the person is trying to hide a negative attitude. Holding hands in the back wil indicate a high degree of safety.  Someone who positions the hand with palms down is trying to show some authority while having the palms up is trying to persuade someone.
A firm handshake is something that most people who want to get things done do. One that is accompanied by a squeeze on the shoulder or arm means there is a certain level of sympathy and cooperation. This happens between people who share something in similar.

Posture while sitting (and/or standing)

Standing o arms and legs show a defensive and closed attitude. This means you are closing yourself to others, which is a negative body sign. Inter-crossing your feet, on the other hand, can show interest for someone.
Learning how to read body language is crucial to one’s dating success. You have to know when the things people are saying means otherwise. With the ability to interpret body signs, you’ll never be in the dark when it comes to what the object of your desire is actually thinking.
